1. What is trichology?

2. What is the difference between a trichologist and a dermatologist?

FAQ

Trichology is the scientific study of the hair and scalp's structure, function, and disorders. Trichology was founded and established in London, England in 1902.

Think of a trichologist as a hair and scalp detective. We look for clues based on hair loss patterns, genetics, nutrition, health, and lifestyle to recommend the cause of the scalp disorder and available treatments to manage it. Trichologists receive a certification after completing training from twelve to eighteen months.

Dermatologists are medical doctors who specialize in the physiology and pathology of the skin.  Depending on your type of scalp disorder, you may be referred to a dermatologist or another doctor for further evaluation. If you need to see a dermatologist specializing in hair loss, I will recommend one for you.

FAQ

Do you accept insurance for trichology consultations?

My qualifications do not allow me to accept insurance. However, you can see a dermatologist or doctor who can take your insurance. Visit docs4hair.com for dermatologists that specialize in hair loss.

What type of treatments do you recommend? â€‹

The treatments I recommend are related to the type of hair loss you have and your lifestyle. They include hair supplements, scalp treatments, laser therapy, topical treatments, as well as other treatments from dermatologists.

Is hair regrowth guaranteed?

Hair regrowth is based on each individual. Several factors determine if your hair will grow back. Active hair follicles, the cause, and the type of hair loss all play a role in hair regrowth.

Why is trichology important?

Trichology helps cosmetologists identify why clients are experiencing scalp disorders and recommend solutions. Sometimes, hair loss is a warning that there is an imbalance in the body. In those cases, your hair can be restored once your doctor treats the imbalance.

How long is a trichology consultation?

A trichology consultation is one hour.

What forms of payment do you except?

Cash, and all major credit and debit cards.

No. However, you will need to fill it out for your first visit so we are both on the same page about the services you would like to have.

Do you have a storefront?

The salon I work in is called Mane Advocates. It is on the ground floor.

Should I wash my hair before a trichology consultation? â€‹
